EMILIEN KRYTHOF KRIJTHOF LATEST MURDER VICTIM IN SXM, SUCCUMBS TO GUNSHOT WOUNDS TO THE STOMACH

Emilien Krythof was shot in the vicinity of CayBay. He was taken to the St Maarten Medical Center, where he later succumbed to the bullet wound to his stomach. 

Emilien was the seventh murder in St Maarten this year, the Prosecutors Office is complaining about being overwhelmed and understaffed.

A burgler died after being restrained by the potential victims he intended to steal from

On Tuesday January 28th the St Maarten Police Department were dispatched to Oyster Pond Road 162 at roughly 3:00pm. An ongoing robbery had been reported, and the suspect according to sources had been caught in the act, according to the police report.

On the scene of crime, the officers interviewed the family, who were temporarily staying at the residence while on holiday. The family stated that while they were at home, they suddenly were confronted by three unknown men who were trying to break in to their residence.

They caught one of the suspects and held him for the arrival of the police. The victims stated that the suspect in question had started to resist vigorously, while the other two suspects tried to free him by throwing stones at the victims, but did not succeed.

The suspect continued to resist and the victims kept him restrained by holding him down. Meanwhile, the other two suspects jumped into a small white vehicle and made off towards the French side. Police officers gave chase to the vehicle, but lost it as it crossed the French border.

After a while, the restrained suspect stopped resisting and remained lying on the ground. When the investigating officers checked on him he was not showing any signs of life. The paramedics were informed immediately. They came to the scene and tried to resuscitate the suspect without success.

At least three of the victims suffered minor cuts and bruises. They were treated on the scene by paramedics. One of the victims was taken to St. Maarten Medical Center with a suspected broken nose.

The situation was described by a local man: "An American who looked like a body-builder caught a burglar in his house and took him into a neck-lock." This information has not been confirmed.

Detectives and the Forensic Department were informed of the situation immediately and came to the scene to question the victims and collect evidence. Dr. Mercuur arrived on the scene and pronounced the suspect's death. The body has been confiscated to determine the exact cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone who has any information about the two outstanding suspects or about the white vehicle used in committing the offence is requested to contact Philipsburg police station.

ST MAARTEN ACADEMY STUDENT BUSTED WITH GUN REPLICA IN SCHOOL BAG DETAINED AND TAKEN TO THE POLICE DEPT.

An 18-year-old student of the St Maarten Academy was found concealing a replica of a gun in their school bag. The Community Police Officer for the St. Peters and Reward districts was called to the St. Maarten Academy to investigate, on January 16th 2014.

The  fake gun discovered was confiscated and the student was arrested and taken to the Police Station in Philipsburg.

ST MARTIN GIVES THE AMERICAS A CHRISTMAS GIFT....IT'S CALLED CHIKUNGUNYA

The U.S. can never say that St Martin has never given them anything for Christmas. Reports are coming out of the U.S.A. that the same strain of the Denghue virus known as Chikungunya or "The Illness that Bends", has been detected in a passenger that recently visited the island and then returned to the USA. The Chikungunya is a mosquito borne virus. People infected experience severe flu like symptoms. What sets this strain of the virus apart is that it can cause intense, agonizing lifelong pain to the joints. The pain is supposed to be so severe, that it causes people to crouch-or bend over in pain. And that's why it's call the disease that bends. Chikungunya got on his magic cape, flew right over Dutch St Maarten, and all the Antilles and went straight to the big time. I hope it got its Visa and Green Card, because American Immigration is strict about it policies. In an effort to keep the virus at bay. Dutch St Maarten Minister of Health Cornelius de Weever has been spraying Dutch St Maarten like crazy. The trucks have been everywhere, and we smell like a chemical plant, but oh well, at least we don't have Chikungunya! 

Omar Jones, Carlos Richardson and Bling Bling gang get reduced sentences yesterday december 20 2013

Vesuvius members Omar Jones and Carlos 'the hitman" Richardson had their entences commuted to 29 years. The other our members o the Bling Bling Gang, also had their sentences vastly decreased.

he Vesuvius-case involves four murders, two attempted murders, firearm possession and membership in a criminal organisation.

The crimes were committed between April and August 2011 against the backdrop of a war between two gangs involved in the drug trade. Violence erupted after Omar Jones' brother Amador was shot dead on April 16, 2011

The crimes include the attempted murder of Omax Bay and Kennedy Fergus on April 20, 2011 in Dutch Quarter, the murder of Miguel Arrindell in Cole Bay on May 25, 2011, the murder of Arrindell's brother Rodolfo on Fort Willem Road on July 7, 2011, and the killing of Eric Lake and Kevin Gumbs in Madame Estate on August 17, 2011.

Solicitor-General Taco Stein had requested the Appeals Court to uphold the life sentences for Jones and Richardson. He had also asked for sentences of between five and nine years for the other suspects.

The Appeals Court found life-sentences for Jones (36) and Richardson (31) not justifiable. According to the Court, there was insufficient evidence that both men had been the instigators or had in any other way been involved in the shooting at Cat's Shopping Center on A.Th. Illidge Road on August 17, 2011, which had cost the lives of Lake and Gumbs.

Co-suspect Andrew "Ratty" Davis (32) had stated that Jones had shot Lake in his back, but a witness had told the police that Ratty had held people at gunpoint during this double murder and that someone named Kevin and Richardson had fired the fatal shots.

Nevertheless, Richardson was also acquitted of these murders, because the Joint Court could not determine how many offenders were exactly involved in these murders.

This led the Court to reduce Jones' and Richardson's sentences to 30 years. Both also received additional three-month reductions on their sentences in compensation of violations of their rights.

According to the Joint Court, the Prosecutor's Office had illegally obtained recordings of "confidential communication" between Jones and co-suspect Erno Labega (30) in a police van in Aruba.

Richardson received a similar reduction on his sentence, because police infiltrators had been covertly placed in his cell at the police station to listen in on conversations. This also constituted a violation of the European Human Rights Treaty, the Court stated.

Jones and Richardson were both arrested on November 16, 2011, and already spent two years in pre-trial detention.

The Appeals Court rejected lawyer Brenda Brooks' position that there were possible other scenarios for the murders, such as the possible involvement of Colombians. The Court said this claim was insufficiently substantiated.

Labega also received a three-month reduction on his five-year sentence for rights' violations. The Solicitor-General had requested six years.

The Court found it proven that Labega was involved in the preparations of the attempted murder of Omax Bye, whom he held for the killer of his cousin Amador Jones. Similar to the other suspects, Labega also was found guilty of firearm possession and membership in a criminal organisation.

Charles Fleming (38), Doniel Thomas (27) and Ekron Morgan (36) were all sentenced to four years.

The Solicitor-General had asked for eight years for Morgan, but the Appeals Court did not find sufficient evidence for his involvement in the murder of Miguel Arrindell.

The Prosecutor's Office held Thomas as an accomplice in the assault on Bye and Fergus, and had asked for an increase of his prison term from seven to nine years. However, the Appeals Court acquitted Thomas of attempted manslaughter, and only found it proven that as "one of Omar's boys" Thomas had stashed away weapons belonging to the organisation.

Fleming was found guilty of aiding and abetting in murder, and of firearm possession and membership in a criminal organisation.

Fleming had stated he was innocent and had said his statements to the police were incorrect. The Joint Court said it was more likely that Fleming had wanted to retract his statements under influence of his co-suspects, who had threatened him.

The Prosecutor's Office and the defendants have two weeks to launch final appeals with the High Court in The Hague.

The hearing in the appeal of suspect Davis, who was sentenced by the Court of First Instance to nine years, is scheduled for February 27, 2014.
