Usually I simply post the pictures, but by popular demand I will start to add blog commentaries. People always ask... "what is the main difference between St Martin and St Maarten". One of the biggest differences is that the St Martiners will rise up and protest what they consider to be unfair or unjust, while the Dutch St Maarteners are content to sit back, drink Heinekens and complain about it. Both St Martin and St Maarten have their issues. Both have been sold out by their politicians. In the above images, the St Martiners came out early to protest BTP. The standoff between the demonstrators started at The Merrie, when the gendarmes (police) blocked the path of the protestors. There was an impasse as the local politicians hastily got together to try to reach an agreement
